Sirens: Juveniles Use Store Speaker for 'Moaning Sounds'; Infant Left in Vehicle; Man Who Wants Meth Damages Property

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Malicious Mischief 

• Damage to the men’s bathroom at a playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street was reported just before 8 a.m. on May 5. 

• Damage to windows and fencing at a property in the 1600 block of Northeast Kresky Avenue just before 9 a.m. on May 6. 

• A BMX bike was reported stolen from the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 4:10 p.m. on May 7. 

• A subject who reportedly “punched walls” and “smeared blood all over” a property in the 400 block of Southwest 15th Street just before 2:25 p.m. on May 9 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Theft 

• Just after 8:25 a.m. on May 5, a theft that occurred in the 1600 block of Southwest Gails Avenue sometime overnight was reported. 

• A subject was cited for theft after he tried to return an item he never purchased at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:10 p.m. on May 6. 

• A case of third-degree theft reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just after 2 p.m. on May 9 is under investigation. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary was reported in the 400 block of Southwest 18th Street at 1:10 p.m. on May 7. 

• A possible burglary was reported in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive just after 11:40 p.m. on May 8. 

 

Assault 

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 4 p.m. on May 5. 

• A subject was arrested in the 500 block of Southeast Adams Avenue just before 7:45 p.m. on May 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault. 

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 1500 block of Rice Road just before 9:05 a.m. on May 6. 

 

Disputes 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 10:20 p.m. on May 6. 

• A physical dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 10:12:25 p.m. on May 7. 

• A family disturbance/dispute was reported in the 400 block of Southwest 15th Street just after 8:15 a.m. on May 9. 

 

Juvenile Problems 

• Five juveniles under the age of 13 were reportedly acting disorderly and “putting moaning sounds into the speakers” at a store in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 6:30 p.m. on May 5. 

• A group of juveniles were reportedly “smoking and rough-housing” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 7:35 p.m. on May 5. 

 

Welfare Check 

• An infant was reportedly left alone in a  vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 7:10 p.m. on May 5. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A homeless man who reportedly had a knife was trespassed from a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 8:50 p.m. on May 6. 

• A subject who was “smoking in the back room” of a property in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just after 2:40 p.m. on May 7 was trespassed from the property. 

• Four subjects were reportedly trespassing on railroad tracks in the 500 block of Northwest Front Street just after 4 p.m. on May 7. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:10 a.m. on May 8. 

• A case of trespassing was reported at the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and the North National Avenue underpass just after 8 a.m. on May 8. 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1500 block of Rice Road just after 7:50 p.m. on May 9. 



 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A man was reportedly “smoking and drinking” and “scaring the cashiers” in the lobby of a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 1:50 p.m. on May 6. 

• A subject was reportedly acting disorderly in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 10:40 a.m. on March 8. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Southwest Interstate Avenue and Southwest Parkland Drive at approximately 1:50 p.m. on May 6. 

• A vehicle reportedly struck a light pole and a flower pot in the 2100 block of North National Avenue just before 8:05 p.m. on May 7. No injuries were reported. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 300 block of South Market Boulevard at 2:40 p.m. on May 8. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision reported at the intersection of Northwest Chehalis Avenue and Northwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. on May 9 is under investigation. 

 

Death Investigation 

• A death reported in the 1500 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 7:30 a.m. on May 9 is under investigation. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of South Gold and East Cherry streets just before 8:50 p.m. on May 8. 

• A non-injury, three-vehicle collision was reported in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue just before 4:10 p.m. on May 8. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of West Center and North Iron streets just after 9:30 p.m. on May 9. The at-fault driver was issued a citation. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 900 block of West Main Street just after 12:55 p.m. on May 9. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Virginia Drive  just before 2:45 p.m. on May 9. The at-fault driver was issued a citation. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• Officers were asked to move along a homeless person who was sleeping on a shop owner’s property in the 300 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 8:55 a.m. on May 8. The subject left without incident. 

• A male subject was reportedly urinating in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 6 p.m. on May 8. He was trespassed from the property. 

• Two homeless people who were “loitering” outside a business in the 200 block of West Main Street were moved along at the business owner’s request at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 9. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue at 12:35 p.m. on May 9 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree malicious mischief after he allegedly damaged property because someone “would not assist him in purchasing methamphetamines.” 

• Just after 6:05 p.m. on May 9, a caller reported “gang graffiti” was spray painted on their house, detached shed and vehicle sometime overnight. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A male subject was reportedly yelling outside a business in the 1100 block of South Gold Street at approximately 1:25 p.m. on May 9. The subject left before officers arrived. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 176 inmates, including 161 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 127 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
