Sirens: DUI and Eluding Police; 'Threatening a Stranger With a Stick': Assault; Burglary

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A Centralia man was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, in the 300 block of Kearney Street just before 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 23. 

• A Centralia man was arrested at the intersection of Oxford Avenue and Fulton Street just before 5:05 p.m. on Feb. 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief. Both charges had domestic violence enhancements.

 

Harassment 

• A man was cited for harassment just before 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 for allegedly “threatening a stranger with a stick” in the 400 block of West Main Street. 

 

Theft 

• A Centralia woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 24. 

• Alcohol was reported stolen from the 600 block of South Tower Avenue at 11:05 a.m. on Feb. 25. The case is under investigation. 

• Alcohol was reported stolen from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 25. The case is under investigation. 

• Two vehicles, a black Ford Focus and an orange Dodge Caliber, were reported stolen from the 2900 block of Mt. Vista Road just before 4:50 a.m. on Feb. 27. The owners were reportedly letting the vehicles warm up before leaving for work. 

 

Burglary 

• Just after 7:05 p.m. on Feb. 24, a victim reported their shop in the 1200 block of Long Road was broken into within the past few days. The case is under investigation. 

 

Scam 

• Just before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 25, a victim in the 900 block of B Street reported they gave a $1,000 deposit for a rental property and found out the person they sent the money to was not the owner of the property. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A minor, non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 just after 4 p.m. on Feb. 24. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of southbound Interstate 5 and Mellen Street just before 9 p.m. on Feb. 24. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 5:35 p.m. on Feb. 25. 

 

DUI and Eluding Police 

• Fabricio I. Lopez, 19, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1800 block of Military Road just before 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence and eluding a police vehicle. He allegedly failed to yield on a traffic stop and subsequently crashed as he tried to speed away, according to the Centralia Police Department. Lopez then allegedly tried to flee on foot but was apprehended. Additional hit-and-run, resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer are being considered for referral to the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Vandalism to a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Gold Street was reported just after 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 25. The case is under investigation. 



 

Criminal Trespass 

• A Centralia man who was arrested on multiple warrants in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 25 was also referred to Centralia Municipal Court for trespassing. 

 

Drug Violation 

• While officers were investigating suspects for an attempted theft in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 26, officers located suspected fentanyl in a vehicle driven by the suspects. They were referred to a local drug treatment program. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A case of disorderly conduct was reported in the 1200 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Feb. 24. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment was reported in the 400 block of Southwest 14th Street at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Feb. 25. An unknown person was reportedly attempting to blackmail the victim with explicit photos. 

 

Assault 

• A case of fourth-degree assault was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 12:35 p.m. on Feb. 25. No arrests were made. 

 

Theft 

• License plates were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:35 p.m. on Feb. 25. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:35 p.m. on Feb. 25. 

 

Burglary 

• A second-degree burglary reported in the 100 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 4:55 p.m. on Feb. 25 is under investigation. 

• Just after 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 26, a victim reported a male subject broke into her residence in the 300 block of Southeast Valley View Way, “broke everything in the house,” assaulted the victim and threatened to break the windows. The subject left the scene before the incident was reported. Charges have been referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office. 

 

Vicious Dog 

• A dog reportedly attacked a subject and her dogs at the intersection of Northwest Ohio Avenue and Northwest Vien Street just after 11 a.m. on Feb. 26. No injuries were reported. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 169 inmates, including 157 in the general population and 12 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 122 were reported male and 35 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 10 were reported male and two were reported female.
