Sirens: Dog Left in Car; Employee Assaulted After Stopping Thief; Hit-and-Run; Thefts

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on Jan. 14.

• A vehicle accident reported in the 600 block of Northwest Commerce Way just after 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 19 is under investigation.

 

Dog in Car

• Just before 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 14, a caller reported a small dog had been left alone in a car in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for about four hours.

 

Trespassing

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 14.

 

Theft

• A third-degree theft was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:35 a.m. on Jan. 15.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 2100 block of North National Avenue at 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 15 is under investigation.

• At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Jan. 15, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported a cellphone was stolen a couple days ago.

• An attempted vehicle theft reported in the 2500 block of North National Avenue just after 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 16 is under investigation.

• Just after 11 p.m. on Jan. 16, a caller reported a vehicle prowl that occurred in the 600 block of Northwest New York Avenue the night before.

• Just before 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 17, a caller in the 400 block of Northwest Quincy Place reported someone had siphoned gas out of a business van at approximately 5:30 a.m. that morning.

• Just before 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 17, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Saunders Way reported the “theft of the green cover that goes over his water meter.” Other residents in the area were also missing their covers.

• Just after 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 18, a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Southwest Kelly Avenue at 3 a.m. that morning.

 

Recovered Vehicles

• A stolen vehicle was recovered at the intersection of Northwest Prindle Street and Northwest Quincy Place just after 5:25 a.m. on Jan. 16. At 6:55 a.m. that same day, a subject was cited for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle in the 1300 block of Northwest State Street.

• A U-Haul truck reported stolen out of California was recovered in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 17.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:45 p.m. on Jan. 16 is under investigation.

 

Assault

• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Jan. 17. The case is under investigation.

• Just before 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 17, a caller reported an 11-year-old male had pushed their 8-year-old son in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street. A report was taken.



• A subject was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 400 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. on Jan. 18.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft and Burglary

• Items were reported stolen from a storage unit in the 600 block of North Gold Street at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 17.

• A drink was reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 17.

• Items were reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 18.

• Items were reported stolen from a clothing store in the 1400 block of Lum Road just after 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 18.

• At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Jan. 18, several hand and power tools were reported stolen from the 1500 block of Logan Street sometime over the last week.

• A burglary reported in the 900 block of F Street just after 6:15 a.m. on Jan. 19 is under investigation.

 

Credit Card Fraud

• Fraudulent charges were found on a credit card in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road at 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 17.

 

Assault

• At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Jan. 18, an adult female reportedly attempted to steal items from a business in the 300 block of West Reynolds Avenue and, when employees confronted her and took the items back, she allegedly punched one of the employees and fled in a waiting vehicle. No arrests were made.

 

Trespassing

• A subject was cited for trespassing in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6 a.m. on Jan. 18.

 

Crash

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 600 block of Yew Street just before 5:25 p.m. on Jan. 17.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A hit-and-run caused by a vehicle failing to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic was reported at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West Bridge Street just before 5:35 p.m. on Jan. 18.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 155 inmates, including 139 in the general population and 16 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 115 were reported male and 24 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
