Sirens: $2,400 in Counterfeit Bills; CPS Takes Custody of Child After Meth Arrests; Assault With Stool

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft

• Just before 8:05 a.m. on June 2, items were reported stolen out of an unlocked car in the 2100 block of Southwest Olympic Drive sometime overnight. 

• A case of third-degree theft was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just after 3:05 a.m. on June 5. 

 

Burglary 

• A burglary was reported at a business in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 10:40 a.m. on June 3. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly subject was reported inside an office in the 300 block of Northwest North Street just after 12:10 p.m. on June 2. She was moved along. 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “stomping around inside the library” in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard at 2:25 p.m. on June 3. 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “screaming and yelling (and) laying in the road” at the intersection of Northeast Coal Creek Road and North National Avenue at 3:45 p.m. on June 3. The caller reported he had two sticks and was “walking around (the caller’s) car, screaming.” 

• A male subject was reportedly “harassing customers” at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before 5:30 p.m. on June 4.

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “yelling and screaming” in the 400 block of North Market Boulevard just before 8:40 p.m. on June 4. She moved along without incident. 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “holding a puppy (and) screaming and yelling” at the intersection of Southwest Ninth Street and Southwest Cascade Avenue just before 6:05 a.m. on June 5. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “getting verbal and harassing people (on) the patio” of a business in the 500 block of West Main Street just before 7:15 p.m. on June 2. He was trespassed from the business. 

• A male subject who was reportedly holding a knife and refusing to leave a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was trespassed from the business just after 2:55 p.m. on June 4. 

 

Dispute 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 10:15 p.m. on June 2. 

 

Assault 

• A woman who allegedly hit a man with a stool in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 4 p.m. on June 4 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• Just after 12:35 p.m. on June 2, a hit-and-run that occurred in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue a couple days prior was reported. 

 

Vehicle Accident

• A vehicle reportedly struck a pole in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 6:55 a.m. on June 4. No injuries were reported. 

• A non-injury, non-blocking, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:50 p.m. on June 4. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southeast Eighth Street just after 5 a.m. on June 5. The suspect allegedly threatened the reporting party then “came after (him) with a steel rod.” 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 



• Just after 8:25 a.m. on June 2, officers were asked to have two homeless people found sleeping outside a business in the 1100 block of View Avenue move along. Officers contacted one woman outside the business, who agreed to move. 

• Just after 3:05 p.m. on June 2, a citizen reported seeing a juvenile male run out of a business in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue and set off the security alarms while exiting. The business asked officers to trespass the juvenile, but officers were unable to locate him. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• Officers were asked to assist with an “unruly customer” at a business in the 200 block of South Pearl Street just after 11:20 a.m. on June 2. The customer was reportedly “yelling and refusing to pay for his breakfast, claiming the eggs weren’t real.” He left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

Theft 

• Three juveniles, identified as one male and two females, reportedly stole beer from a grocery store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on June 2. 

• Two suspects reportedly ordered merchandise from a business in the 500 block of West Main Street and fraudulently purchased the items using another business’ pre-existing account just before 1:55 p.m. on June 2. 

• A juvenile was referred to a local prosecutor’s office for stealing alcohol from a store in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 3:55 p.m. on June 3. They were also referred for possible minor in possession and making a false statement to a public servant charges.

 

Counterfeiting 

• A business in the 1500 block of Lum Road reported receiving nearly $2,400 in counterfeit bills just after 10 a.m. on June 4. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A non-injury, non-blocking two-vehicle, collision was reported at the intersection of East Locust and South Gold streets just after 1:10 p.m. on June 2. 

• A non-injury, partially-blocking two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 3:50 p.m. on June 2. 

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported on private property in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 12:35 p.m. on June 3. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A suspect reportedly kicked over a motorcycle in the 400 block of South Washington Avenue at 7:55 p.m. on June 2, causing approximately $350 in damage. 

• A 25-year-old Centralia man is being referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for possible second-degree domestic violence malicious mischief, fourth-degree domestic violence assault and interfering with reporting of domestic violence charges following a dispute in the 1400 block of Lewis Street that was reported just after 2:45 p.m. on June 4. 

 

Recovered Vehicle 

• Just before 10:25 p.m. on June 2, officers received a Flock Camera alert on a vehicle that was reported stolen in Pierce County. Officers located the vehicle in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue shortly after and apprehended two suspects. Officers found meth inside the vehicle during a search, as well as a 5-year-old girl who did not “belong to either suspect.” The mother of the child reportedly left the child with one of the suspects two days prior, according to the Centralia Police Department. Custody of the child was transferred to Child Protective Services.  The two suspects, both Castle Rock residents, were booked into the Lewis County Jail. 

 

Eluding 

• An officer attempted to stop a motorcycle for several traffic violations in the 100 block of Centralia College Boulevard at 10:30 p.m. on June 3.  The motorcycle fled from police and officers did not pursue. This case is still under investigation.

 

Fire Assist 

• Officers were dispatched to the report of a brush fire that was endangering nearby buildings in the 800 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 1:45 a.m. on June 4. This case is still under investigation.

• A “transient from Rochester” was issued a warning for lighting a fire in a non-designated area at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and West First Street just after 8:50 a.m. on June 4. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 159 inmates, including 144 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 34 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
