SCJ Alliance, an employee-owned consulting firm with an office in Centralia, is celebrating “Employee Ownership Month” all October with various in-company events, social hours and activities.
The firm has over 130 employees and specializes in civil engineering, transportation planning and design, environmental and urban planning, landscape architecture, and public outreach. It became employee-owned in 2019.
According to a news release from the company, “employee-owned companies tend to be more stable and resilient than their counterparts. According to The ESOP Association, employee retention is 235% higher at employee-owned companies versus conventionally owned companies.”
In the release, President and CEO Jean Carr said, “Becoming a 100% employee-owned company was a way for our previous shareholders to reward employees for their dedication and commitment, as well as preserve our unique culture.”
