The Cardinals piled up 40 points to secure the team win at Saturday’s Ocosta Invitational.
Jacob Trodahl and Mason Ruiz crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth place, respectively in sub-21 minute 5,000-meter times.
Austin Sturza of Onalaska was the area’s highest finisher, third in 19:38.26. On the girls side, Winlock’s Natalie Cardenas Hernandez was the runner-up in 24:45.54 and Mossyrock’s Joan Wedam took third.
MWP’s pack runs strong in Sunnyside
The Timberwolves put together an eye-opening show at Saturday’s Sun Burn Invite at South Hill Park.
All four of their varsity runners crossed the finish line inside the top-15. Hunter Brackett was the top runner, sixth in 18:22.91 while Vanson Armstrong took ninth.
Juniors Noah Gilstrap and Aiden Kampa finished 12th and 14th, respectively. The Timberwolves lone girls runner Gemma Jakubowski finished 22nd.
Rainier pieces together standout day in Olympia
The Mountaineers unleashed another reminder why they will be a team to watch for the season at Saturday’s Olympia XC Classic.
Freshman Komaire Robles was the winner in her race, clocking a time of 13:29.50 and Alexis Myers took sixth in 14:08-flat. Jazzlyn Shumate and Madison Ingram each had seventh place finishes in the junior and senior races, respectively.
Tumwater’s Alexandra Broome notched a ninth place performance in the sophomore race.
On the boys side, two of the best runners in the area ran in the front as Rainier’s Zach Hamilton (junior) and Rochester’s Gunnar Morgan (senior) placed fifth and sixth in their races.
