Sandra ‘Sandi’ Carter: 1948-2021

Posted

Sandra "Sandi" Carter passed away on Oct. 12, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Sandi, and her twin sister Linda Boire, were born Aug. 23, 1948 in Aberdeen, Washington to Bernice Embree Rockwood and Wilho Ross. Sandi married Raymond Swim and had four children with him. In 1984, she married Dennis Carter, her great love of 37 years, and joined their families together.

Sandi was a lifelong resident of Washington state, and a longtime resident of Enumclaw, Roy, and Winlock. Her proudest achievements (after her children and grandchildren) were her prolific garden, her beautiful needlework, and her rescued animals. She was always quick to laugh, and had an encyclopedic-like knowledge on all things gardening and history. An avid genealogist, she was a dedicated volunteer at the state archives. In recent years, she frequented live bluegrass concerts in Lewis County, where she enjoyed time with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Gregory Rose, and step-daughter Cindy Webster. She is survived by her loving husband Dennis Carter, daughter Angela (Ed) Rose, son Brett (Amy) Swim, son Clayton Swim, daughter Danell (Aric) Mackey, step-daughter Michelle Millburn, and Cindy's husband Doug Webster. She is also survived by grandchildren Eddie (Merci) Rose, Ashley Swim, Evan, Andre and Henri Mackey, and step-grandchildren Christina (Matt) Pickerell, Stefani (Don) Bargeron, Greg (Amy) Dutson, Cassie Nelson Loveless, Chris (Carolyn) Nelson, Alayna and Sienna Millburn. Her siblings are too numerous to name.

A celebration of life is being planned for the spring of 2022, when her flowers will be in bloom.
