After a torrid start Wednesday afternoon at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview, Adna’s Braeden Salme leads the field at the 2B District 4 golf tournament, carding an 82 over 18 holes.

The junior shot a 37 over the front nine and came back to card a 45 over the back nine. He leads teammate Andrew Grim by two strokes as both look for their first individual district titles.

The defending team district champion Pirates advanced three golfers to the second day of the tournament, with Grim carding an 84, and Josh McGuire making the cut with an 85, and in third place.

The top 12 boys will advance to the second day, with the top six two-day scores making the cut to advance to the state tournament at Tumwater Valley next week.

The other nine qualifiers for the second day were Sebastian Britt of Wahkiakum (92), Preston Davis of Winlock (96), Cooper Hahn of Kalama (87), Brodie Avalon of Wahkiakum (97), Zakk Carlson of Wahkiakum (101), Pierce Hull of Kalama (100), Wilson Hull of Kalama (104), Westin Billeci of Ilwaco (96), and Kaden Stariha of Kalama (94).

On the girls side, a pair of Wahkiakum golfers lead the pack, with Avrey Wiltse Hiatt and Brie Cothren tying for the lead with an 18-hole score of 91.

The top nine girls advanced to the second day, with just five spots up for grabs to advance to the state tournament, also being held at Tumwater Valley.

Adna had three second-day qualifiers: Natalie Humphrey (114), Miriam Wilson (116), and Jaylee Humphrey (122).

Other qualifiers included Zoey Zuern of Ilwaco (105), Sam Grote of Ilwaco (118), Breanna Wall of Ilwaco (124), and Jessie LeFever of Wahkiakum (115).
