Rodas tandem powers ONR past rival Taholah

For the fourth straight season, the Acorns defeated one of their closest rivals in the Chitwhins in a 32-30 overtime thriller in Taholah on Friday night.

It was the Gio and Daniel Rodas show for the entire night. Gio found his brother from 57, 88 and two 20-yard touchdowns. The last two connections were the game-tying score with two minutes left in the fourth quarter and the go-ahead TD in overtime. They also had all four two-point conversions for ONR (3-2, 3-2 1B Southwest)

Taholah, who came in averaging 84 points per game in two weeks, had a chance to force double OT with a successful two-point try. The Acorns burned their final timeout and Lewis Koser plus Ben Kimbrel teamed for the game-ending sack.

ONR rallied down 24-16 to force the extra frame. Gio Rodas finished with 378 yards passing and Daniel Rodas hauled in 18 catches for a staggering 312 yards. Koser and Dre Kluth combined for 23 tackles and five tackles for loss.

The Acorns face a short week and also return home to battle Sound Christian on Thursday night.
