Rochester’s Maddox Rodgers, Xander Peterman, and Ethan Rodriguez know that in a talented backfield, each player may take turns having great days.
That wasn’t the case on Friday in Tumwater, though, as all three backs had outstanding days and led Rochester to a 41-7 victory over Black Hills.
Rodgers ran for 166 yards and two touchdowns, Peterman had 132 yards and found the end zone, and Rodriguez tallied 106 yards and hit paydirt twice.
“Guys played really hard,” Rochester coach AJ Easley said. “It was really great to see all three backs get going on the same night, and the offensive line did great.”
The trio helped Rochester build a 23-0 lead, a score that held until the Warriors added three more touchdowns in the final frame. Owen Simpkins also found the end zone on his six-carry, 48-yard night.
Rochester (3-1) will return home to host Elma in its league opener next Friday, Oct. 3, while Black Hills (1-3) will head to Centralia for its EvCo opener the same day.
