A 66-year-old Rochester woman was killed in a car crash on state Route 510 east of Lacey on Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

She was later identified as Rebecca J. Andrade McClain.

The woman was reportedly driving a tan 1991 GMC Sonoma eastbound on state Route 510 when, near Rockress Drive Southeast, she failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and crossed the centerline, striking a westbound black 2011 Honda Accord.

The Sonoma came to rest on the centerline, while the Accord came to rest in a driveway on the right shoulder.

WSP was dispatched to the collision just before 9:20 a.m. on Friday, May 5.

The driver of the Accord, a 49-year-old Yelm woman, was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital for medical treatment. The Yelm woman was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

McClain was deceased at the scene, according to WSP. State Route 510 was blocked for two hours and six minutes after the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
