Rochester’s baseball season came to an end on Tuesday in Hoquiam, where the Warriors were eliminated from the district tournament in a 6-3 loss to Castle Rock.

Rochester scored all three of its runs in the third to briefly take a 3-2 lead, but the Rockets scored in every inning but one and consistently put pressure on the Warriors defensively.

“We found multiple ways, if they found a way to get a guy on, to put them at third base,” Rochester coach Brad Quarnstrom said, noting a mix of errors and a potential batter’s interference that went uncalled. “It’s extremely frustrating.”

After its three-run third, the Warriors had a couple of chances to tack on more runs. In both the fifth and the seventh, they had two runners on with two outs.

“We just could not get that base hit,” Quarnstrom said.

Tayden Martin pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and six runs (two earned) while walking two and striking out six.

Kole Smith, Simon Barth, and Ethan Rodriguez tallied Rochester’s three base hits.

The Warriors finish their season 9-10 and will graduate five seniors: Smith, Conley Doelman, Colton Weiss, Brayden O’Connor, Tristan Nelson.

“I do know how much it meant to a couple of them,” Quarnstrom said. “They came out, had a  great attitude every day and put forth a great effort. It was a great group, and it was a fun group.”
