The third meeting between Evergreen League foes went the same as the second and the result was similar. A 57th minute goal by the Ravens was the difference in a 1-0 triumph over the Warriors on Thursday night in a winner to state game in Montesano.
With Class 1A District 4 getting five teams through to state, Rochester (13-7) will face La Center in the final winner to state match bright and early Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Vancouver.
“At least we’re still playing,” Warriors head coach Matt Ashton said. “We have to come Saturday and leave it all on the field. Give it everything we have.”
The opening half was scoreless despite a handful of chances from both sides. Rochester tried to challenge for the ball inside its box and the RSB attacker made one move and fired the shot into the back of the net.
If the Warriors prevail on Saturday, they would be in the state tournament for the first time in 12 years.
