Riverside Nursing & Rehab Evacuated Residents Late Thursday Night

Posted

Riverside Nursing & Rehab in Centralia began evacuating its residents at 10 p.m. on Thursday night in anticipation of flooding.

True to its name, the nursing home is right on the Skookumchuck River, which was out of its banks and flooding into streets and businesses in the facility’s neighborhood on Friday morning.

In total, 52 residents were displaced. Six of those went to be with family members and 46 went to other homes in Olympia and Port Orchard.

One resident passed away while still at Riverside that night, of an expected death unrelated to the flooding or evacuation.

There’s no set time frame on when residents will be able to return.
