With both teams struggling to hit shots and get into an offensive flow, the Toledo girls basketball team held on to defeat Onalaska Wednesday at home, 36-24.
The Riverhawks were led by the double-digit scoring efforts of Ryah Stanley and Stefani Arceo-Hanson, who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Abbie Marcil added seven points and Paige Hill hauled in a massive nine rebounds to lead the Riverhawks.
But it was the Toledo defense that won it the game, holding the Loggers to single-digit scoring in every quarter, including just a 2-point fourth.
The Loggers were led by Cierra Berg’s nine points, followed closely by senior Brooklyn Sandridge, who had eight points. Kaiyah Sandridge added five on a tough shooting night for the Loggers.
Onalaska takes on Wahkiakum on Friday for its next game while the Riverhawks play Adna on the road.
