After a bit of time off due to illness, injury, and a depleted roster, the Toledo girls basketball team returned to the hardwood with a vengeance, upsetting defending Central 2B League champion Wahkiakum in Cathlamet Tuesday, 47-46.

The Riverhawks built up a big lead, scoring in bunches in the second and third quarters to hold a 45-36 lead, before holding on for dear life to secure the win in the fourth.

“It’s huge,” Toledo coach Randy Wood said. “That was a good win for us. We were holding on for our life at the end, it wasn’t the prettiest last two minutes, but we did what we needed to do.”

Kira Winters hit two timely 3-pointers, Ryah Stanley led the Riverhawks with 12 total points, and Toledo won its biggest game of the season after a tumultuous last few weeks.

The Loggers take on Onalaska next on Thursday on the road.
