Riverhawks Split Weekend Doubleheader With Chinooks

With rainouts and cancellations mounting, the Toledo baseball team snuck in a weekend doubleheader Central 2B League matchup against Kalama Saturday afternoon, and played twice for a split in the key league battle.

The Riverhawks won the first game, 4-1, before falling due to some late Chinook runs, 6-2, in the second game.

Rogan Stanley had a standout day, pitching a complete game in a 4-1 win, striking out seven and allowing just three hits and one walk. He also went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, and Zane Ranney added an RBI knock.

In Game 2, a 6-2 loss, Stanley was again a highlight, going 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI, and Ranney went 2 for 2, but the runs were harder to come by, and the pitching wasn’t as consistent.

The Riverhawks threw four guys on the mound in the second game, and after a steady start Kalama put five runs on the board in the fifth and sixth innings to steal a game from the twin bill.

Toledo won’t have much time to rest, taking Sunday off before returning to non-league action against Naselle at home Monday.
