Riverhawks Romp for 29 Runs During Sweep of Chinooks

Toledo softball erupted to outscore Kalama 29-1 during a road sweep of the Chinooks Monday.

In Game 1, the Riverhawks blasted out 21 hits en route to a resounding 16-0, run-rule victory in five innings.

Eight of nine Riverhawks collected a multi-hit game, led by Abbie Marcil going 4 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs. Brynn Williams and Candace Clark each went 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI.

Bethany Bowen tossed three scoreless innings in the circle as the starter, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out four. Averie Robins pitched the final two hitless innings, striking out four while walking two.

In Game 2, the Riverhawks’ offense did most of its damage early, scoring nine runs combined in the first two innings before completing a 13-1, run-rule victory in five innings.

Toledo pounded out 17 hits, led by Mialeigh Jurica, who went 3 for 4 with three runs. Robins was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a run, while Marcil also scored three times on 2 for 4 hitting with two RBIs.

Bowen and Robins teamed up again in the circle, with Bowen tossing the first two innings, allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks with two Ks. Robins tossed three scoreless innings, surrendering one hit while walking nine and fanning four.

Toledo heads to Winlock for a 4 p.m. game on Thursday.
