Spurred by a double-double from Cooper Fallon and limiting 3-point shots in the final two quarters, the Toledo High School boys basketball team upended county rival Winlock 60-38 on Thursday night in a C2BL contest at home.
Now, the Riverhawks get a chance to avenge one of their two losses when they tangle with league-leading Adna on Saturday night in Adna. The Pirates won the first matchup by 12 points.
“Whatever happens on Saturday, we need to be better than the first time we play them,” Toledo head coach Grady Fallon said. “This game is big.”
It was a three-point game at the half, primarily because of Winlock’s perimeter shooting. It canned six 3s in the opening two quarters, four of them by Freddy Patching. Toledo (12-2, 8-2 C2BL) allowed one trifecta in the second half.
Coach Fallon mentioned that Eli Weeks, to go along with his 16 points, kept the Cardinals’ Landen Cline in check. Cooper Fallon finished with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Riverhawks.
“Eli ignites us sometimes,” Coach Fallon said. “When he’s playing hard, he makes all of us go.”
Winlock (4-10, 3-8) hosts Onalaska on Saturday night.
