Toledo and Wahkiakum are no longer league foes, but the Riverhawks were still able to make the trip to Cathlamet on Monday, and they left with a 60-56 win.
“That’s a hard place to play,” Toledo coach Grady Fallon said. “We purposely scheduled this game late to hopefully prepare us for districts.”
The game was tight throughout, as Wahkiakum wouldn’t let Toledo pull away.
The game was tied at 41 entering the fourth, when Eli Weeks scored nine points and Adam Kruger hit a pair of threes to help the Riverhawks seal it.
Weeks finished with a team-high 17 points, dished out six assists, and grabbed five rebounds, and Kruger finished with nine points.
Tyce Vigre added 14 points and six rebounds, while Cooper Fallon scored eight points and brought down eight rebounds.
Trevin Gale scored his first points of the season after missing Toledo’s first 16 games with an injury, and he finished the night with nine.
“He’ll add a little more depth to our team,” Grady Fallon said. “He fit right in because he’s been playing with these guys his whole life. I’m really excited to have him back in the rotation.”
Toledo (16-3, 11-3 C2BL) will return home for its final two games of the regular season. The Riverhawks will host Toutle Lake on Friday before welcoming Rainier next Monday, Feb. 3.
