Monday started the week countdown to state for Twin City Wrestling Club (TCWC) wrestlers who will be competing in the WSWA Folkstyle State tournament. The tournament is held at the Tacoma Dome Sunday, Feb. 23, following the conclusion of the 2025 WIAA Mat Classic Saturday evening.
We just watched six of our W.F. West wrestlers secure spots as the district champs before moving on to state.
The idea struck me how special it would be to get at least one of those boys to just drop in and give our wrestlers some tips and maybe a little pep talk before we all head to the dome this weekend.
These high school wrestlers are a pretty big deal in our community, and the youth wrestlers look up to them so much.
As it turned out we were able to get five of our six district champions to not just drop by, but to commit to a full practice with the kids.
Tucker Land, Kage Homan, Andrew Snyder, Graysen Serl and Race Scalici demonstrated their signature moves, and then worked hands on with the young wrestlers and even did a few live rounds!
It was an unforgettable experience and we are so incredibly grateful to have these young men as mentors in our community.
