Raymond M. Varo, a resident of Yelm for over 40 years, passed away April 10, 2021, at the age of 86, at Tacoma General Hospital of a severe head injury from an unfortunate fall.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 63 years; son, Chris, his wife, Jeanette; daughter, Diana, her husband, Jim Hunter; four grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Raymond, also know as "Ray", a Consulting Electrical Engineer, traveled to seaports throughout the world ensuring container cranes handled cargo safely, properly and investigated major seaport accidents when things went awry. He was a hard worker and will be missed as a funny, kindhearted and generous man by his family, friends and colleagues.
A special thanks to the medical professionals at Tacoma General Hospital for ensuring his final day was comfortable and pain free.
There will be no funeral or memorial service.
