Ray Eugene “Bud” Richter

Ray Eugene “Bud” Richter, 94, passed away Sept. 24, 2017, in Centralia, Wash., his home of 53 years. He was born Aug. 17, 1923, to Oscar Richter and Winona (Knox) Richter in Duchess, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Centralia High School and served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947, in the Pacific during World War II. Bud was a logger for O.H. Richter from 1948 to 1964, and worked tool and die for Don Ford from 1964 to 1996. He had a heart of gold and was an outgoing person when with family and friends. He was a great storyteller and a jokester. He loved to hunt and fish when he was younger. In later years, he enjoyed making clocks, woodworking and feeding and visiting with the squirrels. Bud was preceded in death by his wives, Charlotte (Pounders) Richter, June, 8, 1981, and Drusilla (Morris) Richter, Nov. 14, 2014; daughter, Betty Richter; son, Earl Richter; parents, O.H. and Winona Richter; and sisters, Bernice Riddle and Vivian Teitzel. He is survived by his sons, Bill Richter of Puyallup, Wash., Ray Richter of Bucoda, Wash., and Mike Morris of Olympia, Wash.; daughters, Carol Riordan of Olympia, Robyn Bryant of Tenino, Wash., Elizabeth Jarrett of Mercer Island, Wash., and Pam Hodgson of Chehalis, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, James Robert “Bob” Richter of Centralia.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Oakview Grange, 2017 N. Pearl, Centralia, WA 98531.
