Led by match medalist Andrew Grim, the Adna boys golf team won a four-team meet at Newaukum Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.

Grim shot a 41, winning by a stroke over teammate Josh McGuire at 42. Braeden Salme (45) and Seth Meister (49) rounded out the top scorers for the Pirates. Ben Andrew (52) and Lenz Bigbee (51) also golfed well for Adna, per coach Luke Salme.

“I’m really happy for Andrew and Josh,” Luke Salme said. “They’re seniors who love the game and have spent a lot of time working on their game and that shows. Those are good scores for our first match.”

Grim, celebrating his birthday Wednesday, eagled for the first time to add to a strong day.

Elsewhere, Winlock finished second as a team, led by Nicholas Ming’s 52. Julian Camps (59), Trent Poirrier (64), and Monty Schmitz (66) rounded out the Cardinals’ golfers.

Oakville’s Ulises Cabera carded a 54 competing solo, and North Beach was led by Fred Pope’s 60.
