After a sub-optimal first quarter of just eight points, the Adna High School girls basketball team pressed down on the gas pedal and never let up en route to a 57-21 triumph over Mossyrock on Tuesday night to remain unbeaten in the C2BL.
Adna (16-1, 6-0 C2BL) is a win away from at least sharing the league title and wrapping up the top seed for the District 4 tournament. It is two wins from an outright title. Karsyn Freeman was unleashed to the tune of 31 points while six others had at least two points.
The Pirates outscored the Vikings 35-4 over the middle two frames to secure the victory. Mossyrock (8-8, 3-3) was led by Chesney Schultz’s six points while Aydson Barrows and Kendall Cournyer each scored four.
“We got tired and had too many turnovers. Turnovers were the biggest thing, it led to a lot of transition points for them,” Vikings head coach Nick Rashoff said. “We played pretty good defense for the most part. Just couldn't get much going offensively.”
Adna will trek to Winlock on Thursday while Mossyrock takes on Rainier on Saturday.
