Pirates Squash Seagulls, Advance to District Quarterfinals

Just two days after a blowout loss to Napavine, the Adna boys basketball team will rematch with the Tigers again on Wednesday after a 2B District 4 tournament-opening win against Raymond Saturday afternoon in Montesano, 66-47. 

The Pirates jumped on the Seagulls early, and held on to get the win, leading the Seagulls, 45-18 at the halftime break. 

Braeden Salme notched a triple-double in the Pirates first postseason game of the year, scoring 17 points to go along with 13 assists and 11 boards in the win, all team-high’s. 

Eli Smith poured in another 17 points, and Seth Meister had 13 to round out double-digit scorers. 

Raymond was led by Skyler Hutson’s 13 points. 

The Pirates advance to the district quarterfinals against Central No. 1 Napavine, which will be played at 7 p.m. at W.F. West on Wednesday.
