Pirates overcome slow start in win over Spartans

The Adna girls soccer team earned another shutout victory on Friday, as the Pirates defeated Forks 4-0.

Sophie Hagseth and Lydia Tobin both scored in the first half, and Tobin scored her second in the first minute of the second half. Ava Humphrey also scored in the first half, while Lilly Wellander had two assists and Haley Roundtree had one.

The 4-0 scoreline is solid, but Richardson said the Pirates could have won by more if not for a slow start.

“We just weren’t clean and crisp,” Richardson said. “We finally got things rolling … When we get more shots to fall and make those bang-bang plays that we practice all the time, we could be a strong team to beat. The season continues, so we still have time to hit our peak.”

Adna (9-6-1, 5-2-1 C2BL) will wrap up its regular season in Winlock on Wednesday.
