Barely holding on in a tight non-league contest, the Adna boys basketball team defeated La Center on the road Monday night, 60-57.
The Pirates had a 10-point lead at the halftime break, but didn’t quite put the Wildcats away all game, letting the home team crawl back into the game until Adna put the finishing touches on the win in the final moments.
“We sure faced a lot of adversity tonight,” Adna coach Luke Salme said. “But we showed some grit and found a way to win. It was a great non-league game where we can learn and grow a lot.”
The Pirates were led by the double figure scoring efforts of Braeden Salme (20 points), Seth Meister (17 points), and Lane Johnson (15 points).
Adna takes on King’s Way Christian next on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at home in another non-league game.
