Last season, the Adna volleyball team wasn’t taken to five sets until the state quarterfinals.

Mossyrock gave the Pirates everything they could handle on Thursday, taking them to five, but Adna was able to hold on for the 25-14, 21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10 victory.

Adna came out of the gates strong, but Mossyrock battled back to take sets two and three to take a 2-1 lead before the Pirates won the final two sets.

Danika Hallom tallied 21 digs, 12 kills, eight assists, and a pair of aces, while Kendall Humphrey added 13 kills, 11 digs, and two aces.

Gaby Guard logged 43 assists, 16 digs, three kills, and three blocks, while Karsyn Freeman recorded 21 kills, 12 digs, and seven aces.

McKenna Torrey had 19 digs, Jaylee Humphrey added 11, and Bailey Chapman finished with five kills, two stuff blocks, and a block.

On Mossyrock’s side, Erin Cournyer and Delaney Marshall combined for 52 assists, while Renzy Marshall and Taylor Schwartz combined for 35 digs.

Saydi Mendoza led the Vikings with eight kills, while Chesney Schultz had four blocks at the net.

Mossyrock (4-4, 0-1 C2BL) will try to get its first league win at home against Winlock on Friday, while Adna (9-0, 2-0 C2BL) will look to push its regular-season win streak to 28 on Tuesday at Toledo.
