Pirates Grab Second Straight In Sound Win Over Ravens

Five goals came from five different players Monday night, as Adna won its second straight after dropping its first four of the season, beating Raymond-South Bend, 5-0.

Fending off attacks before they even started, the Pirates (2-4, 2-0 in league) didn’t allow a single shot on goal in the win.

Despite a strong performance, coach Horst Malunat’s squad is still adjusting to the new weather, and with a new turf at RSB, it needed some breaking in too.

“The speed of the ball was new,” Malunat said. “The ball just went. Any time we tried to advance the ball, it just goes. We were missing stuff because we couldn’t keep up with it. The girls had to adjust to that.”

After goals in the 24th minute from Karlee VonMoos and in the 36th minute from Kaylin Todd, the Pirates finally found their footing early in the second half. They scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half, putting away any hope for a Ravens comeback.

Zarine Walker, Summer White, and Macy Kalnoski scored goals in the second half, and Natalee Werner recorded two assists in the win.

The Pirates have Ocosta next on Wednesday.
