Pirates Defense Clamps Loggers in Win

Posted

Thanks to another dominant defensive performance, the 2B No. 1 Adna girls basketball team defeated Onalaska on the road Wednesday night, 49-17.

The Pirates held the Loggers to single digit scoring in every quarter, and kept the Loggers off the scoreboard entirely in the third to preserve the win.

Karlee VonMoos led the way with 14 points, and Gaby Guard added another 10 in a well-rounded performance for the Pirate starters.

Brooklyn Sandridge led the Loggers with seven points, as Ony continues to search for an offensive identity. Kaiyah Sandridge added seven rebounds, and Ciera Berg had six more boards.

“The girls worked hard tonight,” Ony coach Alana Olson said. “But we didn’t handle Adna’s pressure well. Adna is a very solid, well-rounded basketball team. They pushed the ball well and capitalized on our mistakes. They forced us into 27 turnovers tonight.”

The Pirates play Kalama on Friday while the Loggers take on Napavine on the road.
