Behind an all-hands-on-deck effort, the Adna baseball team defeated Mossyrock on the road Wednesday afternoon, 12-5.
In the non-league contest, both squads threw out new arms and bats to get revved up for districts, set to start in a week and a half. The Pirates took advantage of just a few hits, but several Viking errors in the win.
Danner Hoinowski went just 1 for 4, but made his one hit count, scoring two on a double. Tristan Percival also had a pair of RBIs on a hit, and Asher Guerrero knocked in another run on a base hit.
On the mound, Guerrero pitched a steady 4 1/3 to start, giving up three runs with one earned on three hits and three walks. The senior also struck out eight.
Avery Manning stepped in to pitch an inning and a third, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk, and eighth-grader Beau Miller pitched the final four outs, striking out two and allowing just one hit.
Mossyrock, meanwhile, went through six pitchers, with starter Jacob Comer going three innings before a different pitcher stepped into every other inning.
Comer gave up four runs, with just one earned, on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
At the dish, Easton Kolb went 3 for 4.
Mossyrock takes on Oakville next Tuesday for a return to league play, while Adna’s regular season, at least in the interim, is over. The Pirates are trying to reschedule a rained out contest against Elma, and are off next week due to Onalaska’s program not having a high enough turnout.
