Percival Throws No-No in Pirate Win Over Rainier

Though the skies remained dry, the field conditions Thursday evening in Adna were far from ideal in an 11-0 win for the Pirates over Rainier at home.

After loading the bases on walks in the first inning and escaping unscathed, Adna ace Tristan Percival threw a five-inning no-hitter in the win, with 10 strikeouts and seven walks.

At the plate, Percival also scored two runs with a hit. The Pirates racked up eight hits total, with Luke Mohney logging two with three RBIs and Asa Ingle also adding two with three runs scored. Asher Guerrero had a 2-RBI double and Danner Hoinowski hit the game-ending 2-RBI single in the fifth.

“Conditions haven’t been great for the past week,” Pirates coach Jake LeDuc said. “But we played good defense, and I’m very happy with the last few games. We’ve been aggressive on the bases and the kids have bought into that.”

The Pirates (7-4, 3-2 C2BL) will look to keep it rolling against Onalaska in a doubleheader matchup at 3 p.m. on Monday, while the Mountaineers look to rebound against Toledo on Friday.
