The Pe Ell volleyball team handed Naselle its first loss of the season on Monday, as the Trojans swept the Comets 26-24, 28-26, 25-20.

Coming into the game, the Comets were a perfect 6-0, and they had only lost three sets in those six matchups.

“We knew it was going to be a tough matchup,” Pe Ell coach Jill Engel said. “The girls came in with a great attitude and just connected with each other all night. They really held tight to their defense and set up their offense beautifully. They have a lot to be proud of.”

Karli Phelps made just one setting error on 46 attempts while notching nine assists, and she also added six digs, five service points, two kills, and two blocks.

Brynnlee Hoffman added five service points of her own along with six digs and a kill, Madi Engel tallied 11 digs, seven kills, and went 19 for 21 on serve receptions.

Bailey Cox added six aces, six service points, two blocks, and a kill, Sophia Milanowski logged 12 digs, three aces, and two kills, and Ava King finished with three digs, a kill, and an assist.

Pe Ell (4-3) has now won two games in a row, and the Trojans will be back at home on Tuesday against Wahkaikum.
