After a stellar collegiate career, Pe Ell alumni Alissa Brooks-Johnson will be inducted into the Washington State University Athletic Hall of Fame, as announced by the university on Thursday.
Brooks-Johnson will be inducted alongside Micaela Castain (soccer), Don Collins (basketball), DeWayne Patterson (football), and Mike Leach (football) on the weekend of Sept. 6 and 7.
"The 2024 WSU Athletic Hall of Fame class represents some of Washington State's greatest student-athletes and coaches dating back more than four decades and we are honored to highlight the successes of such an incredible group," WSU Director of Athletics Anne McCoy said in the statement.
"The accomplishments of this class are tremendous and the pride and passion each displayed while representing WSU is well documented,” she continued. “We look forward to celebrating their impact on our great history."
After a high school career that included a dozen state titles, Brooks-Johnson went on to become a two-time All-American and a three-time Pac-12 champion in the heptathlon in Pullman. The one year she didn’t take the conference crown, her freshman season, she finished as the conference runner-up.
She took sixth at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in 2017 and 2018 in the heptathlon, and she also finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter hurdles in 2015.
She still sits in the top-10 in school history in four different events, including second in heptathlon and fifth in the 400 hurdles.
Brooks-Johnson and the four others will be inducted during a dinner at Beasley Coliseum on Friday, Sept. 6, and they will also be honored at the WSU-Texas Tech football game on Saturday, Sept. 7.
