The Pe Ell wrestling team, which was formed three years ago, hosted its first high school wrestling match on Wednesday, when it welcomed Ilwaco and Willapa Valley for a mixed match.
Before the meet, the team also recognized its four senior wrestlers: Konnor Pilz, a three-year wrestler, Ethen Noble, a two-year wrestler who is undefeated this season, and Cowyn McGrath and Logan Oechsner, two first-year wrestlers.
The Trojans had 10 wrestlers in the mixed match, and they went a combined 13-2 across 15 matches.
Nine wrestlers — Ethen Noble (175), Konnor Pilz (157), Blake Burnett (157), Benjamin Parker (144), Cowyn McGrath (138), Ethan Faulkner (132), Brody Magruder (132), Payten Pilz (170), and Addyson Simmonds (120) — pinned their opponent, while Hunter Harris (190) won via forfeit.
The Trojans will head to Ilwaco for the Ilwaco Beach Brawl this weekend before turning their attention to sub-districts.
