Travelers who use Interstate 5 between Cowlitz and Lewis counties should plan for delays, a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation stated.
On Sunday, June 1, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews began repaving the driving surface along a 4-mile stretch of southbound I-5 in Cowlitz County, extending the life of the roadway.
From 8:30 p.m. June 1 to 6 a.m. June 6, the right lane of southbound I-5 will close each night between Exit 57 for Jackson Highway and Barnes Drive (milepost 58) to just south of the Toutle River Rest Area (milepost 54).
During overnight lane closures, directional signs will guide travelers to shift from three lanes down to two lanes of travel.
The release advises drivers to slow down, stay focused and expect delays through the work zone.
