Owners of Grazing Animals Invited to Three-Day WSU Extension School in Tenino

The Thurston County Washington State University (WSU) extension office is offering a multi-day intensive grazing school from April 21 to April 23 at the Skookumchuck Grange in Tenino, according to a WSU news release. 

The school will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. all three days. 

Cattle, sheep, goat and horse owners are all invited to attend, as well as technical service providers supporting livestock producers including Natural Resources Conservation Service, conservation district and government Fish and Wildlife employees. 

Cost to attend is $300 per person. For families and ranch teams, the cost is $300 for the first person and $200 for each subsequent attendee. The cost includes three meals per day. 

Scholarships are available to veterans and others upon inquiry. 



Those who attend, according to the release, will learn a variety of grazing related subjects including evaluating biomass for planned grazing, designing grazing cells for targeted stocking rate and density, assessing pasture health and improving soil.
