‘Overwhelming Success’: Spring Cleaning Event in Chehalis Ends a Day Early as Dumpsters Fill

Though it was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Spring Clean Up Days in Chehalis is ending a day early.

The free trash disposal event ended three hours after the four dumpsters located throughout the city opened. All locations are now closed.

LeMay Inc. provided the dumpsters for the four sites, which were originally going to be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

The City of Chehalis partnered with Experience Chehalis to host the event, which was made possible by volunteers. Chehalis City Manager Jill Anderson said it was an “overwhelming success” and the partners are working to set up another trash disposal day.

“We will do another one as soon as feasible,” Anderson said. “Due to the logistics involved, it could take more than a couple of weeks.”

She apologized on behalf of the city for any inconvenience created for those who took trash to dispose of but were met with full, closed dumpsters.
