The Napavine baseball team outlasted Toledo 5-4 in eight innings on Saturday in Chehalis, taking home third-place in the 2B District 4 Tournament.

The Tigers started the game with four straight base hits and scored two runs, and even after Toledo got on the board in the second, they added another in the third and led 3-1 after one.

The Riverhawks began clawing back, first with a run in the bottom of the fourth and then another on a two-out infield single from Ryker Sorensen in the fifth.

The score remained tied at three until the seventh, when Beckett Landram reached on a two-out error and came around to score on a bloop single from Cal Bullock.

Sorensen hit another RBI infield single in the bottom half to tie the game at four.

The Riverhawks had the bases loaded with one out after Sorensen’s tying hit, but Napavine’s Hudson Chambers was able to strike out the next two hitters to force extras.

A Chase Manion RBI single in the top of the eighth went on to stand as the game-winning hit.

Chambers pitched the final three innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out five. He also had two hits at the plate and drove in two runs, and Landram and Bullock both had two hits.

In addition to pitching the first five innings, Sorensen had two hits and two RBIs, and Bode Buswell drilled a triple to the left-center gap for his lone hit of the day.

Napavine (17-6) and Toledo (16-9) will learn their state tournament seeding after the seeding committee meets on Sunday.
