The No. 5 Napavine girls basketball team made the trip east for its Regional Round matchup against No. 4 Reardan on Saturday, and the Tigers were defeated 53-36 by the Screaming Eagles.

The Tigers struggled to get going in the first half, as they scored just 14 points and entered the locker room down 15.

The offense began to get into a rhythm in the third, scoring 14 to double their output, but Reardan maintained its lead and led by 19 going into the fourth.

Hayden Kaut led Napavine with 14 points, nine rebounds, and a pair of steals, while Jessie McCoy scored 12 points.

Taylen Evander scored nine points and added three assists, and Nicholle Valentine brought down eight rebounds.

The Tigers (19-7) will still make the trip to Spokane, where they’ll begin play in the Round of 12 against No. 12 Colfax on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to a quarterfinal against No. 3 Brewster on Thursday at the same time.
