From finishing second-to-last in the C2BL to potentially making the Class 2B District 4 tournament, the Timberwolves have put themselves in prime position for a playoff spot with a 15-25, 25-22, 25-17, 33-31 victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night on the road.

The win by MWP (6-7, 2-4 C2BL) surpassed last season’s win total and joined a four-team jam with two wins each in the league. It closes the regular season at Rainier and hosts Toledo next Monday and Wednesday, respectively.

“We’ve been working on teamwork a lot and tonight, it all came together,” Timberwolves head coach Jamie Brazil said. “The energy was unreal. We’re still a very young team and that helped build our confidence. The feeling was amazing tonight.”

The fourth set was tied at least 10 times before the Timberwolves pulled out the win. Ryelin Wiedenmann finished with 18 kills and 16 digs while Crystal Dygert dished out 23 assists plus Malia Armstrong registered 27 digs.

Napavine (6-7, 2-3) was paced by a triple-double of 15 kills, 13 digs and 12 assists from Jessie McCoy while Emily Kang notched 25 digs and three aces. Those two plus Nicole Valentine finished with 100 percent serving.

“From here on out, they have to bring their ‘A’ game,” Tigers head coach Monica Dailey said.
