Isabella Holmes scored a game-high 15 points and Rainier was able to fend off Napavine for a 47-37 Central 2B League victory at home on Wednesday.

The Mountaineers were buoyed by a 10-2 run to start the game, which helped them build a 23-11 lead at the half and keep the Tigers at a distance throughout.

“We came out really well last night against a well-coached team,” Rainier coach Brandon Eygabroad said. “We handled their pressure really well early. The girls played hard and worked well together all game.”

Bryn Beckman, who returned from an injury, provided instant firepower for the Mountaineers, hitting a 3-pointer and finishing with nine points. Faith Boesch also added nine points.

Napavine was led by Keira O’Neill’s eight points, while Grace Gall drained two 3s to finish with seven points and Dani Tupuola contributed five.

The Tigers have now lost three straight and sit at 4-5 overall and 1-1 in league play. They head to Toutle Lake on Tuesday for another C2BL matchup

Rainier (4-3, 1-1 C2BL) travels to Morton-White Pass on Friday.
