Behind a new season-high in total runs and the top-seven hitters in the batting order responsible for the majority of the scoring, the Rainier High School softball team piled on to the tune of a 28-5 win over Winlock on Thursday in C2BL action.

For the third straight season, Rainier (11-6, 5-3 C2BL) placed in the top-five of the league standings and this year, will be the No. 4 seed for the district tournament. Keira Anderson, who pitched for the first time since she was a youth, drove in six runs and scored five times.

That was far from the only notable performance at the plate for the Mountaineers. Mia Naval went 5-for-5 while Gracie Lantz, Eliana Henry and Lucy Wolfe all finished with two hits and three runs batted in.

Winlock (1-19, 0-8) scored first in the top of the first and added three in the third, but the deficit was too big to overcome. The Cardinals season comes to a close.
