Morton Loggers’ Jubilee to Return This Weekend

Posted

The “Granddaddy of All Logging Shows” will once again take the streets of Morton this weekend.

The main draw for Morton Loggers’ Jubilee attendees are the logging shows, where competitions include log rolling, speed climbing, ax throwing and tree topping. But there are many other events to take part in as well, including a Jubilee Queen coronation, lawnmower races, a parade and even a dance in a gas station parking lot.

The coronation will take place on Thursday night. High school girls compete for the title, which is earned through pageantry, an essay question and a commitment to attend many parades and events throughout the year. A follow-up story with the names of Jubilee contestants will be published later this week on chronline.com.
