Monique Marie Elliott, 82, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, in Seattle, Wash. She was born June 27, 1938, in St. Malo, France, to Andre and Claudine Bauret. Monique was raised and educated in France.
She met her husband, Milton Dale Elliott, at the Postal Exchange in St. Lazare, France, where Milton was serving in the United States Army as an engineer in 1960. They were married July 1, 1961, in St. Lazare, France, and were married for 59 years. In 1962, Milton and Monique moved to Lewiston, Idaho, where their sons, Steven and Stace, were born. Milton had a job transfer from Washington Waterpower in 1970, which moved the family to Centralia, Wash.
Monique took pride in everything that she did and made sure to always look her best. She loved spending time with family. She was a wonderful cook and loved both French cooking and experimenting with new recipes for family and friends to enjoy. She adored her many pets; dogs, cats, chickens, and even a peacock, which arrived at their home one day and lived on their property for many years. She had many French friends in the area whom she enjoyed visiting and conversing with in the French language.
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, she worked for the local grocery store, Fuller’s Market Basket, as a catering manager and wine steward. Her lovely voice with the French accent was often heard on the local radio stations advertising for Fuller’s Market Basket. She also volunteered at Providence Centralia Hospital’s gift shop, and she would often bring her granddaughter with her.
Monique was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia where she would help the homebound and elderly by bringing communion to them at their place of residence. She enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include her husband, Milton Dale; sons, Steven and his wife, Lori Elliott; Stace and his wife, Elizabeth Elliott; grandchildren, Stephanie and Kati; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Francine Bauret.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 26, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 N. Washington Ave., Centralia, WA 98531.
