McGraw’s Double-Double Leads Ony Past Kalama

Paced by 25 points and 12 rebounds from Rylan McGraw, the Onalaska boys basketball team defeated Kalama Wednesday night at home, 67-55.

McGraw was the catalyst all game, though Nick Rushton and Ben Russon added 15 and 10 points as well, respectively.

Proud of our guys for grinding out a win,” Ony coach Brent Wood said. “We played a pretty good third quarter for the first time in a while. We’re young and don’t have that killer instinct of stepping on teams’ throats when they’re down and so Kalama fought back in the fourth.”

The Chinooks were led by Kaden Stariha’s 15 points, and though the Nooks got closer, the Loggers weathered the storm and outscored the ‘Nooks by one in the final frame.

“We executed better offensively tonight,” Wood said. “We still lack execution on the defensive side of the ball and toughness, but our guys know that so I think we will come out with a little more toughness this week.”

Ony plays Morton-White Pass in Morton on Friday next.
