Mat Rats Rebooted takes second at Takedown Express

Mat Rats Rebooted Wrestling made its mark at the Washington State Wrestling Association's Takedown Express Tournament, excelling across multiple categories to take second overall out of 30 teams.

The team finished with 176 team points, three and a half ahead of Concede Nothing Wrestling Club and 17 back of White River, which took first.

The Mat Rats tied White River for the most pins in the tournament with 25 in 46:15,  and they had the most tech falls with seven in just 12:59. Combined, the 32 pins and tech falls in 59:14 was a tournament-best.

Liam Walter was one of several standouts, as he scored 26 points in the middle school division at 140 pounds, and Charlie Wheeler scored 22 points in the Girls 6th-8th division.

The club's other winners include Juniper Thompson (7, 54-59), Triton Wait (U10 93 and U10 105), and Connor Rapp (Middle School 155 and USA Junior 144-147).

Five more Mat Rats finished second in their respective brackets: Camryn Reeson (Girls 3rd-5th, 83-86), Ritchy Montano (U12 56-61), Phoebe Halsey (Girls 6th-8th, 76-81), Kataleana Warner (Girls 6th-8th, 100), and Savanna Montano (Girls HS 130-135 and USA Junior 132-134).

Four more took third: Kane Ragsac (U8 45), Ritchy Montano (U12 67), Carter Hedden (U12 82), and  Myryn Phillips (U10 63 and U10 67).



And five more placed fourth: Alexander West (U8 45), Duncan Weaver (U12 86) , Jole Williams (u12 117), Carter Hedden (Middle School 75-80), and Charlie Wheeler (Middle School 115).

TCWC has six placers at Takedown Express

The Twin City Wrestling Club had a small contingent of wrestlers at the Takedown Express Tournament, and six TCWC wrestlers placed in the top four.

Ophelia Cortes (U6 76), Zayvynn Sanders (U10 53), Anna Porter (6th-8th 76-81), and Zoie Cortes (6th-8th 183+) all finished first in their respective brackets, while Ophelia Cortes (Girls K-2 76-81) also took second in another.

Charlotte Porter (Girls K-2 45-47), Jameson Mays (U10 67), and Zoie Cortes (Middle School 225) each placed fourth.

Next up for the TCWC is the WSWA Rainier Rumble at Rainier High School on Sunday, Feb. 2.
