Mark Meaker: 1960-2021

Posted
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Mark Darrell Meaker, who passed away suddenly on June 17, 2021, in Centralia, Washington.
Mark was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 10, 1960, to parents Marion Patricia Meaker and Jack Nathan Meaker. He was the second born of five children and the only boy, making him the favorite brother to his four sisters. He remained close to his family in Canada even though he spent the last 31 years living in Washington State.
On December 24, 1991, Mark married Julie Dawson during a simple ceremony in Olympia, Washington. While they later divorced, they remained close friends and companions until his passing. In February of 1994, Mark became a father to daughter, Miranda, who was the light of his life. He was a devoted, loving, and doting father, who never missed a concert or birthday.
Mark grew up loving the outdoors and was fortunate to live where he was surrounded by nature. You could usually find him working on a project outside. Whether it was chopping firewood, cleaning gutters, or tinkering in the yard, that’s where Mark was happiest.
He spent many years as a contractor doing handyman work for his business, Honey-Do Handyman Services. Mark could fix just about anything and was a skilled craftsman who held high standards for his work.
Mark was a quiet, loving, and gentle soul.  He was kind to everyone and would help anyone who needed it. He was someone that you could rely on to be there when you needed him. While we celebrate his new journey and next grand adventure, we also feel profound sorrow at losing him so early. He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Miranda Meaker; mother, Marion Patricia Meaker; sisters, Gail (Al) Meaker, Lorraine Orkusz, Sharon (Sayed) Meaker, Sharleen (Dean) Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews; and forever friend, Julie Meaker. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Nathan Meaker.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mark on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, in Tumwater, Washington 98501.
