A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition following a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of West Pear and South Pearl streets in Centralia on Friday, April 28.

The Washington State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash, which was reported just after 8:55 p.m., according to the Centralia Police Department.

The motorcycle’s operator, identified by his family on social media as Jesse Baxter, 32, of Centralia, was reportedly given CPR at the scene before being transported to Providence Centralia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“This loss is devastating for so many people but especially Jesse's family. He loved all things fast and loud. He lived his life just the same,” reads a social media post from Baxter’s family.

The driver of the pickup reported injuries at the scene but declined medical aid, according to the Centralia Police Department.

The motorcycle’s passenger, identified on social media as Jesse Baxter’s wife, 38-year-old Kassie Baxter, was also transported to Providence Centralia Hospital and was in critical condition as of Saturday.

“We are asking for prayers for her and her loved ones,” reads a social media post from Baxter’s family.

Baxter’s friends and family hosted a candlelight vigil for Baxter on Saturday at the site of the crash in Centralia.

His friends and family are asking for donations to help Baxter’s family with funeral expenses. Any additional funds will go toward the care of Baxter’s wife and son.
